Flight Star Devices, Inc. of Beacon Falls, CT, is offering the first in a planned line of roof mounted truck signs called "AeroSignTM". The product is designed to work with most any cab and low-body combination, in both straight truck and semi-trailer applications.
The company's founder, Bill Jensen, who has over 20 years experience designing and testing truck add-on aerodynamic devices, says most traditional full size wind deflectors and fairings are primarily intended to be used with full-height van bodies or trailers. Smaller than a traditional wind deflector, AeroSignTM is designed mainly as a low-drag sign for use with low bodies - tanks, flats, stakes, etc, but it also works as a wind deflector where the body is no more than 36" higher than the cab.
The AeroSignTM fits all OEM wind deflector roof channels, and the company can supply retrofit channel kits for many cabs. Alternately, the unit may be bolted directly to a rain gutter type roof rack since it has a convenient flat lower mounting flange. The unit measures 16" high x 52" wide, and weighs only 14 lbs. It accepts a decal of up to 14" high x 44" wide.
Made of white gelcoated fiberglass with a white back, AeroSignTM may be run as-is or painted. All brackets and fasteners are stainless steel. Mounting instructions are provided.
Current options include special colors and decal application. In development are an internally lighted version, a back sign surface, and an integral satellite antenna mount. The AeroSignTM is available on a direct basis. It can be shipped via package carriers.
